Rock band Shinedown performed at the Don Haskins Center this past Sunday. Aug. 2 as a part

of their “Dance, Kid, Dance Act II” world tour, in support of their album Ei8ht and performed

alongside openers Coheed and Cambria, DJ Rockfeed, and From Ashes to New.

The concert appeared to be nearly sold out, as rock fans packed the seats and floor to see the

Jacksonville band perform some of their top hits such as “Safe and Sound”, “Second Chance”,

and even a few covers such as “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down and “Simple Man” by Lynyrd

Skynyrd.

Frontman Brent Smith’s vocals backed by Zach Myers on guitar, Eric Bass on bass, and Barry

Kerch on drums was a performance that energized fans from start to finish. The stage’s catwalk

setup allowed for the members of the band to be even closer to the fans, allowing them to

interact with the floor crowd.

The set’s usage of pyrotechnics alongside high-energy lighting added to the excitement that

was already heavily present in the atmosphere, and no doubt left the audience wanting more.
